MediaFish Call for New Members

Aged 14-19? Love Movies? Then MediaFish wants you

Run by Leeds Young Film, part of Leeds City Council, MediaFish is a cooperative of young people who are passionate about film and everything to do with it. If you love film, you will love MediaFish.

We are currently looking for new members – don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to get involved in your city’s best FREE film club for young people!

As a MediaFish member you get to:

  • - Learn how an International Film Festival works and be part of putting on one of the most exciting events for young people in the UK
  • - Meet other young people with a passion for film
  • - Watch new and unseen films before they get UK releases
  • - Visit other venues and organisations and get exclusive behind-the-scenes tours
  • - Learn how to watch films critically and write reviews, blogs and articles
  • - Help design the Film Festival programme with a professional designer
  • - Learn filmmaking skills and get to use professional filmmaking equipment

Previous MediaFish graduates have gone on to study media, journalism and filmmaking at university, make their own films and win awards at other film festivals, set up their own film studios and even attend Cannes Film Festival, so who knows where it could lead!

“I come to Media Fish as it is a place to meet new people who have the same interests in film. You get great experience working with Leeds Young People’s Film Festival. You should get involved if you haven’t already because it will give you a feel for what the film industry is really like and could kickstart your career!”
- Alfie Barker 15, MediaFish member

If you are interested in joining MediaFish, or just want to know more then come along to the introductory session on Wed 8 August at 4pm in Leeds Town Hall. Email martin.grund@leeds.gov.uk by Mon 6 August 2012 to book your place.
